Aggregate gravel- where it comes from and its many purposes

We all use sand and gravel on a daily basis for tasks and products you not be aware of.  A.L Blair Construction specializes in providing construction supplies such as aggregate gravel to various projects and contractors around the Eastern Ontario region. Sand and gravel are apart of virtually everything that we do from filtering the water that we drink, building the homes we live in, products we use inside of our homes, landscaping outside of our homes and so much more. Living in an urban or suburban community, people of all kinds require the use of aggregate gravel and stone quarries.

Stone quarries play an important role in the production and process of aggregate gravel. A.L Blair has various stone quarries where the aggregate gravel, sand and stone is extracted, managed, organized and then distributed. Without stone quarries there would not be such a plentiful amount of aggregate gravel to go around to many people who need it. A.L Blair Construction is a lead supplier in aggregate gravel in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario region and is founded on customer and employee satisfaction.  A.L Blair Construction is located in the village of Moose Creek, Ontario but supplies aggregate gravel to the Ottawa including outskirts such as Prescott, Stormount, Glengarry and Dundas.

You may not realize just how important aggregate gravel is, until you examine it further in depth, since you don’t have extra time for that, it will be summarized for you here. Firstly, aggregate gravel and sand is used in urban dwellings such as condominiums or high-rise buildings. Let’s start off with what aggregate gravel is used for on the exterior such as the structure and roofing. For the building structure aggregate gravel is used to make concrete and brick and also the following: building foundation, mortar, columns, underground parking lots, concrete roof, and balconies. Sand and gravel are also used in the primary stages of building the structure for the building bedding which consists of a compacted gravel bed below the building including bedding and fill for water, sewer and storm drain pipes.  In an urban setting, aggregate gravel is also used for subways, and Streetcar systems. It is used to create the under ground tunnels for subways and the gravel around the tracks.

In a suburban setting aggregate gravel is used for some of the same objects as listed above, but there are also more uses for aggregate gravel in order to make concrete in this setting. In a suburban location that is built –up but tucked away from the city, sand and gravel are used for your very own playgrounds and baseball diamonds. The gravel and sand used in playgrounds comes from somewhere, it did not magically appear there. For skate parks and bike trails aggregate gravel is also used and is extremely useful because it would be difficult to find a replacement. Some things that you may not have thought that aggregate gravel is used for is for consumer products that are found inside homes such as sand is used in fiberglass insulation, ceramic tiles, glassware, corning ware, toothpaste and even cosmetics, paint and cleaning agents, who knew!

AL Blair construction is a construction supplier and supplier of quality aggregates in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario region.  They are a multi-task company providing services from trucking to custom crushing, stone quarries and pumped concrete.

Stone quarries are essentially an open pit where aggregates and building materials are extracted. It is almost like an open pit mine where stones and minerals are extracted. The products that AL Blair showcase are from their many stone quarries throughout eastern Ontario area. In these stone quarries they extract materials such as chalk, cinder, limestone, marble.  AL Blair Construction also extracts specialty products from stone quarries such as gabion stone, armour stone, ice chips, asphalt grindings and concrete stone.

Stone quarries are a very important part of our communities and the lives we live. In Ontario alone, there are mulitiple stone quarries that serve a unique purpose. Why are stone quarries so important? It is because according to statistics an average Canadian uses 14.0 tonnes of aggregates in their lifetime. The number is so high because we all use pumped concrete and materials that are extracted from stone quarries such as roads, airports, schools or anything else that requires crushed stone. We are using more aggregates from stone quarries than can be produced fast enough, they are in high demand for public infrastructure.

Stone quarries are so important because basically every job and every home in Ontario relies on stone, sand and gravel. The municipal, federal and provincial government to expand roads, highways and infrastructure uses with the aggregates that come from stone quarries. To be exact, 52% of all construction aggregates from stone quarries go to building, constructing and expanding new highways and roadways. There is many other uses for aggregates from stone quarries that make up the other 48% including concrete aggregate, chemical use, asphalt aggregate, mortar sand, pulverized stone and dimensional stone.

It is a vital part of everyone’s lives, whether you live in an urban setting, a rural environment or the suburbs. Aggregates from stone quarries are a vital part of everyone’s lives, the buildings we work in, schools our children go to school to are all products of aggregates from stone quarries. Another use for aggregates from stone quarries are also used to purify and filter water believe it or not and are used in cosmetics as fillers. They are also used within your home for household products from toothpaste and paper to cleaning products and chewing gum.

More aggregates from stone quarries are used in rural communities while concrete pumping services are more common in the city and urban- centers. It is used for loads of things inside and outside of homes. Aggregates from stone quarries can be used for corning wear, vases, plates, windows, roofing, septic tanks, storm drains, foundations, in fields for fertilizer, for bricks and mortar, for decorative pieces around the house and walk way and so much more.

Sand and gravel, the pillars of construction

Sand and gravel may sound drab and bland, but aggregate gravel and sand are the pillars of construction supply and are the tools needed to mold and form concrete. Al Blair Construction, servicing to the Eastern Ontario region since 1932 is proud to provide quality construction supply materials. Sand and gravel have many uses and are used in all areas of construction and in places you would never expect. Building homes, creating structures, mixing concrete, pavement and even sand at the beach are all general uses for sand and gravel.

Without various types or aggregate gravel, the modern world would be lacking precision and durability in all structures and society would not function accurately. To provide some context and a little geography lesson-- sand and gravel are both made up of rocks, of different materials and differing densities. Rocks are categorized into three types: natural mineral aggregates, sedimentary rocks and metamorphic rocks. Each of these categories are differentiated by the type of rock they are made up of.  Ingenious rocks, which are natural minerals, are made from tough and strong metamorphic rock such as granite and basalt, these make ideal aggregates because they are tough. Sedimentary rocks are made out of limestone and sandstone and are used for different purposes and can be cost-effective. Metamorphic rocks are ones that have changed over time due to weather conditions underneath the earths’ surface such as marble or slate.

You may be wondering how different types of rock affect construction and why they are important. First of all they are all used for different purposes but the key point is that different aggregates have different moisture and absorption levels, which contributes to the making of concrete. There are different types of concrete mixes, from lean mixes to rich mixes, they have different purposes and each aggregate provides beneficial results to a specific mix. Rough and elongated texture aggregate gravelneeds more cement paste to be able to make good concrete mixtures. Therefore, this raises the cost of making concrete. Rounded aggregates create lower grade concrete than crushed aggregates and larger sized aggregatesproduce less strength in concrete. Large aggregates give the most strength and value in lean mixes. Meanwhile, in rich mixes, smaller, more refined aggregates produce a stronger concrete mix.

Sand and gravel and more broadly, aggregates are the pillars of construction because they are the most mined minerals in the world. These materials provide us with a beneficial use for many things throughout our daily lives. Sand and gravel are used for paving roads, are used for a base under railroads and are also used in the process of mixing concrete, which makes and constructs infrature worldwide. Aggregate gravel is a cost effective option to bind and fuses cement or asphalt together.

Stone quarries Speak Extremes

Have you ever been involved in stone quarries? Do you have an interest in this topic? Do you want to know more about the different factors to consider when stone quarries will about to happen? Marble is said to be the most beautiful natural stone. It is used an d converted into tiles so that the people can appreciate its beauty and essence. You can always and will always see marble tiles in luxurious places like hotels, palaces and even your own house. If you want to know more about this and you want to dig deep in this topic, do not hesitate to consult A.L. Blair Construction because they are the best in this one.

Are you aware of what is happening before a marble is mined? It is first searched by many prospectors from different nations. It is not easy to be a prospector because you will really risk your life when you are inside the cave. One wrong move and you are dead.  There are several stone quarries specifically for marble that is done around the world. In addition to this, rock is said to be the most widespread in many countries like Canada, Italy, China, America, Spain, India and Germany. Many years back, the prospectors would tend to go round on horseback when looking or searching for any possible signals or signs of the different materials. They will be able to find minerals when they search in the creek beds, along the ridge lines, in the stream trap sites for the color or gold found in silt and sometimes they even find minerals on the top of the hills. If you want to be more knowledgeable about this topic, you can check out the site of A.L. Blair because they will offer you the best service that you will ever have.
Marble is never and will never be seen as a light object. It cannot be easily elated or delivered on a horseback action. You need to buy or rent big trucks if you need to convey marbles and get rid of it from the quarry. Sometimes, train lines are being made so that the rock will be easily removed. This is harder because you still need to install so many things and this will cost you a lot. This is a bit scary because you place your one foot in hell because one wrong move can kill you to death. After doing all these quarrying stuff, this will then be shifted to the processing factory. A.L. Blair Construction can be your best buddy when it comes to this one. Do not worry if you cannot find any information about stone quarry online because we are here to serve you.

A pumped concrete is used when we need to transport water concrete by pumping it. Usually the size of this is larger as you seemed it to be but it comes in different sizes. These are designed to nourish concrete on the areas from a distance in a quick way and this can help the prospector save time.

Stone Quarries on a Notch Higher

Have you ever heard of stone quarries? They say that the most natural stone that is being transformed to beautiful tiles is the marble. Marble contains something that no other stones have. All the natural stones are being used as flooring in luxurious places like hotels and palaces and some even used it in their homes.
Let us dig deep to stone quarries. Are you familiar with what is happening before a natural stone is mined? First, the prospectors locate them and this is a different task because their life is at risk here. There are several stone quarries that are done all around the globe. Rock is said to dominate or is common in countries like Canada, China, Italy, Spain, America, Germany and India. Years back, the prospectors usually tend to go round on a horseback just to have or identify a signal or sign of the different stones. There are minerals present in the creek beds, along the ridge lines and also in the stream trap sites. They will find gold in silt and sometimes on the hills. A.L. Blair Construction will help you in familiarizing yourself with this one.

Marble is not considered as light object. It cannot be easily transported or delivered on a horseback basis. You need to have big trucks if you want to transport marbles and remove it from the quarry. Sometimes, train lines are being made so that the rock will be easily removed. This will then be shifted to the processing factory. A.L. Blair Construction can teach you more in their site; just feel free to visit their site.

When the marble is already in the processing plant, it will be cut with the aid of the big saws. A big saw usually has a blade that is 18 feet wide. This will be divided into more manageable and convenient structures. This is not an easy task because the cutting of the marble cannot be done in just one day. It is hard to cut a marble and make it still usable. We must always take into consideration that marble has different properties and it might react differently with the saw. This is the main reason why the operator should be knowledgeable in what he do.

We use pumped concrete if we need to transfer liquid concrete. This is done through pumping. This has several sizes but the large ones are usually bought. Pumped concrete should be done carefully so that it will be successful. There are two pumps that will be used. These two pumps are the boom concrete pump and the line pump. The bump concrete pump is a gigantic machine which has a boom arm that holds the length of the rubberized part of the tube. This is where the cement goes or passes through. It is said that this boom concrete pump can pump concrete at a vertical way with a length of 65 meters. It can also pump concrete horizontally up to 300 meters.
